What is Swing For A Soldier?
Swing For A Soldier is more than just a charity golf tournament, it’s a day of purpose, connection, and support for our nation’s heroes. This sold-out event welcomes over 400 golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and vendors for a day of golf, followed by an evening reception, awards dinner, live and silent auctions, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
Proceeds from this event directly benefit the Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation, founded by Leslie Mayne in memory of her son, U.S. Army PFC Kyle Farr, who died after returning from combat. Since 2011, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to provide life-saving mental health resources to veterans, first responders, and active-duty military members facing trauma and post-traumatic stress.
What Your Sponsorship Really Supports
The funds raised at Swing For A Soldier supports Warrior PATHH, which is a life-changing program for combat veterans and first responders who are carrying the invisible weight of trauma.
These are men and women who ran toward danger for us.
But when the uniform comes off, many of them are left carrying things no one taught them how to put down...memories, guilt, anger, and isolation.
Too often, they’re told something is “wrong” with them.
Warrior PATHH flips that narrative on its head.
Instead of asking “What’s wrong with you?”
PATHH asks “What happened to you and how can we grow from it?”
The program teaches participants how to struggle well instead of struggle alone.
Over the course of an intensive 90-day journey, veterans and first responders learn practical tools that help them reclaim their lives:
• How to process trauma without being controlled by it
• How to reconnect with family and relationships
• How to rediscover purpose after service
• How to carry their experiences without being crushed by them
Participants learn a range of proven practices and each person finds what works for them.
Just as important, they find something many of them thought they had lost:
A tribe.
A community of people who understand what they’ve been through.
People who remind them they are not broken.
People who remind them they are not alone.
And maybe most importantly, people who show them there is a way forward.
Because the truth is this:
Warrior PATHH doesn’t just help people survive trauma.
It helps them build a life beyond it.
Participants are never charged to attend Warrior PATHH. But the reality is that the program costs roughly $7,500 per participant to deliver. Money raised at Swing For A Soldier helps make sure cost is never the reason someone goes without the help they need.
When you sponsor Swing For A Soldier, you aren’t just supporting a golf tournament.
You are helping a veteran or first responder finally put down the weight they’ve been carrying for years.
And that changes everything.
